Abigail was a street dog in Cherokee County for five years before she found her family, with whom she had a wonderful life filled with hiking, swimming, and leisurely rolls in the sand. When trying to describe her breed on the session application, her dad wrote “teddy bear,” and there really is no better description! The best guess for her age was 15 when I met her, just a few days before she passed away after battling cancer.
I am so glad I was able to meet Abigail – she had such an air of gentleness about her and was truly one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. She was one of those dogs who can charm your socks off within minutes of meeting her. As soon as I walked in, she rolled on her side and lifted her paw to let me know I was welcome to rub her belly. She was a retired therapy dog who brought joy to many and had an instant fan club wherever she went.
After one last swim in the lake, she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family. She will be missed as deeply as she was loved.
