Sasha & Shelby

Sasha and Shelby are beautiful six-year-old Cavalier King Charles Spaniels. Shelby was rescued from a puppy mill raid three years ago, where she was used as a breeding dog and was terrified of everything when her parents first brought her home. It was wonderful to see how much she’s blossomed in her new home now that she has a family that loves and cares for her. She’s happiest when she’s tearing around the backyard with Sasha and loves to chase toys, although she hasn’t figured out how to pick them up and bring them back yet. :p

Sasha was a complete and total ham and made it clear from the moment I arrived that I was there only to give her belly rubs. There was actually a point where I was trying to roll her back onto her stomach because all I had were upside-down images! These girls will be getting their first human sibling this winter, so we had this session so that the girls will have their own round of photos before they have to share the limelight.

Sasha has the Blenheim coloring, and Shelby the tricolor (but missing the tan, funnily enough!):

Liz - Leesia, these are gorgeous!! I had a King Charles Cocker Spaniel growing up, and she was a beautiful, friendly dog. These are such great photos. I love the focus on the eyes in the close shots!

Pippy & Lily (another surprise session!)

These sweet senior Jack Russell girls are both nearly deaf, but if their mom hadn’t told me I don’t think I would have known it! It can often be hard to catch and keep a deaf dog’s attention, but these girls were so in-tune and attentive to their mom. We thought they might be a little reluctant to have their afternoon naps interrupted, but once they realized there were treats involved, they started striking poses left and right. They also have one of the most beautiful backyards a photographer could ever dream of.

If all that weren’t enough to make this an amazing session, I was told that both of these girls were literally rescued from the streets. Lily was rescued just two years ago even though she was already ten years old – which makes her mom a hero in my book! Lily has the all-white face with the brown-tipped ears (left in the image below); Pippy is the older sister with more red in her face. (If you know these adorable girls, don’t tell their dad as these photos are going to be a surprise!)

Liz - Love the way you have captured their eyes in every single photo. The story behind the photos is an added bonus. Aren’t rescue stories the best? 🙂

Coleman & Charlie (surprise session!)

These black English labs are a father and son pair – this is going to be a holiday gift, so if you recognize them don’t tell their dad!

The two are inseparable – even though one-year-old Charlie has a lot more energy than eight-year-old Cole, they still like to be near each other at all times and will play fleeting games of tug before Cole politely concedes. Charlie was a total camera hog, while Cole thought he was a little above the whole thing and spent much of the session lounging in the cool grass and watching us with amusement.

Aren’t they handsome?

Sandy - English box heads are the best looking dogs out of the lab family. Love the picture of Cole on his back!
