Edith & Teddy

Edith Ann and Teddy are nine- and seven-year-old pit bull rescues who are the sweetest and most patient dogs a family could ask for. Their human sisters are two and four years old and to watch them together is so heartwarming. The two-year-old (I’m omitting names for the children’s privacy) will actually crawl on top of them and try to ride them, and they just lie there, content to just be in their company. They gently takes treats that the girls love feeding them, and at night when everyone’s relaxing from the day all four have been known to pile on the couch together in a heap of arms, legs and paws.

I can hardly believe that Edith is nine – she has the energy and enthusiasm of a puppy and showed no signs of tiring until the last 30 seconds of the session! Teddy is the calm, reserved brother but still loves a good wrestling match now and then. Edith is the brindle girl on the left and Teddy is on the right:

Trista - These photos really warm my heart! Such a great thing to share of the children with the ‘mean’ pit bulls! I just adore this breed.

sonya - Stunning photos. What a shame that this breed has such a poor reputation because some people are cruel and irresponsible.

Laine Sweezey - I’m so glad to see this loving, gentle relationship involving Pit Bulls. Until the early 20th Century, the Pit Bull was commonly known as the “Nanny Dog” because it is so gentle, devoted, patient, and loyal. It took humans to turn nanny dogs into fighting dogs. NOT the dogs’ fault! Great photos, Leesia!

Pam Kirkwood - Wow…such adorable and poignant pix of both Zoe and Jenna and Edith and Teddy…Wonderful…

Scarlett

This adorable one-year-old malti-poo was so cute I could hardly stand it! Scarlett squeals with excitement when she meets someone new, and if you don’t pet her quickly enough she’ll lie flat on her belly and starts flopping her legs, almost like she’s swimming. She’s such a cuddler that she always has to be leaning against something – her mom, the couch, anything! You’ll see how soft she looks in these photos…she is one hundred times softer than you can imagine. I would have just petted her for the whole session instead of working if I thought I could get away with it!

Dora

Dora is a six-year-old black lab mix who was rescued through the Homeless Pets Foundation – and now she is living the high life! When her parents aren’t taking her to the park for a game of fetch or to the river to swim, she has a basket full of toys and even her own room in the house, not to mention a window sill that’s the perfect height to rest her chin on when she’s watching for squirrels.

She has the cutest roh-roh-roh bark when she’s asking you to throw the ball or give her a treat – it reminds me of the talking husky video. I had a fantastic time meeting Dora – she was more than happy to strut her stuff in front of the camera, and to top it off we had glorious fall weather!

My favorite from the session:
