Oreo, Loki & Simon

You will not believe me when I tell you this little 12-pound girl is 10 years old – but she is. Not only is Oreo deceptively young-looking, she looks like a chihuahua/JRT mix, but her recent DNA test came back with cocker/boston/beagle…but there has got to be some chihuahua in her! Two years ago, her previous owners dropped her off at the pound because she wasn’t getting along with their children. Lucky for Oreo, when her current owners found out, they rushed to pull her from animal control – they had known her for much of her life as her petsitters and bonded with her even then.

So it may have taken her eight years to find it, but Oreo is now finally in her perfect forever home. She now has her own perches in the window, spots on the bed and couch, and squirrels to chase in a beautiful backyard. But most importantly, she has doting parents who love her. Her big brother is Simon, a sweet 13-year-old boy who loves to give kisses, and the newest addition is 8-week-old Loki, a ridiculously fluffy ragdoll kitten, so of course I had to sneak in a few of the boys as well…

It’s always fun to be able to get a genuine homecoming shot – Oreo’s mom came home in the middle of the session:

I wish more people would contact their friends, family, and the public to try to re-home their pet(s) if they can not keep he or she or them any longer instead of dumping them at a kill shelter. I want to thank this dog’s new owner for saving her and loving her.
