Abigail was a street dog in Cherokee County for five years before she found her family, with whom she had a wonderful life filled with hiking, swimming, and leisurely rolls in the sand. When trying to describe her breed on the session application, her dad wrote “teddy bear,” and there really is no better description! The best guess for her age was 15 when I met her, just a few days before she passed away after battling cancer.
I am so glad I was able to meet Abigail – she had such an air of gentleness about her and was truly one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met. She was one of those dogs who can charm your socks off within minutes of meeting her. As soon as I walked in, she rolled on her side and lifted her paw to let me know I was welcome to rub her belly. She was a retired therapy dog who brought joy to many and had an instant fan club wherever she went.
After one last swim in the lake, she passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by family. She will be missed as deeply as she was loved.
Jay P. Margedant - Leesia, you always amaze me in how you are able to capture so many aspects of the personality of our pets. You truly are gifted! Thank you for posting these moments and letting us into a little of your world! It’s a nice place to go and take a break from our every day lives!
Sharon Collins - How sweet is that face? And your introduction to Abigail brought tears to my eyes! No doubt Abigail will be alive in the hearts of her family and those who loved her!
Joni A Solis - What a super cute dog. What lovely eyes she has. How could anyone leave a dog with eyes like these on the streets for five years? My sister has a chow chow mix male dog that look very much like this dog.
Pam Kline - What a beautiful, beautiful dog. Your intro to Abigail’s photos on your site is wonderful. Please send hugs to Abigail’s family.
