Glaukos

Brace yourself: Glaukos is a nine-week-old Neapolitan Mastiff puppy who is so wrinkly and squishy it was difficult to stay behind the camera because I just wanted to cuddle him instead! At one point while I was changing lenses, he walked across my lap and just sort of stopped mid-way with his back end across my legs and took an impromptu nap…ridiculous!

His mom is the fabulous owner of Happy Healthy Pup, an integrative dog training company that combines training, nutrition, and holistic therapies. She is also the amazing woman who runs the C.H.A.R.M. School volunteer programs at Fulton County and Dekalb County Animal Services.

Glaukos was already 25 pounds at nine weeks, and such a love! People can’t see him without smiling, and dogs that hardly ever play with other dogs can’t resist his sweet antics and gentle ways.

Glaukos – seven months » Atlanta Dog Photography & Pet Portraits by Leesia Teh - […] the Gargoyle is already seven months old! I photographed him earlier this year when he was just nine weeks old, and it was so fun to see how much he’s grown. He’s already bigger than his big brother […]

Kyra, Luke & Bren

I am so in love with this trio! They are all rescues (yay!): Kyra is a Lab/Beagle mix and is the eager-to-please angel, the apple of her mom’s eye. Even though she’s ten, you would never know it – she loves her tennis ball and can outrun everyone else any day of the week!

Luke is a Beagle/Dachshund mix, eager to please as long as treats are involved, and has what everyone jokingly calls a “touching disorder” – some part of his body has to be touching yours at all times. If he’s not giving kisses, he’s resting his nose on your arm, your shoulder, your leg…it’s pretty freakin’ adorable and made for some awesome sleeping shots since he loves snuggling with his sisters too!

Bren is the youngest sister, a three-year-old Pit mix who spent nine months of her life in a shelter. Her mom took her in as a foster, and after lots of love and affection, she has come out of her shell and is one of the sweetest, most darling girls you’ll ever meet. It was touching to see her so happy and secure in her home after such difficult beginnings.

I’m going to start the post with this spontaneous, completely unposed shot that I really, really love. This trio’s amazing mom does a lot of work in the rescue community, and in this image the love she has for her dogs and the countless dogs she’s helped is palpable – as is the love they have for her.

Thank you, Sara, for such a wonderful session!

Piper

Piper started out as a tiny foster puppy, but she charmed her mom pretty quickly and made it clear she was here to stay! She’s a year old now and just as delightful, always entertaining with her silly antics. She’s a mystery breed – she looks like a big dog in miniature form, only twenty pounds and ears so perky they are probably picking up radio signals that we don’t know about.

She could fetch and play for hours, indoors or out, but when she’s left to her own devices her favorite activity is sunbathing on the terrace, keeping watch on the streets below. We lucked out with some of the most gorgeous weather we’ve had in months, and we had a perfect session. Piper has such an infectious zest for life, it’s impossible to meet her and not come away with a smile!
