Chewy & Abby

Chewy and Abby are about to embark on one of the most exciting adventures I can imagine – they’ve already made their way through much of the United States, so in a few months, they will be going to Europe with their mom and dad for a year and a half!! I am SO jealous. I love traveling, but I have such a hard time leaving the dogs that I probably hold us back from traveling more. It was wonderful to learn about all the possibilities and logistics and I will definitely be following their travel blog.

Chewy is a 10-year-old Cocker Spaniel whose favorite thing is giving wet, sloppy kisses. Abby is his 7-year-old sister, a beagle? border collie? mix whose favorite thing is ripping stuffing out of every toy she can find. They are both affectionate, playful, and just all-around lovebugs.

Did I mention I was insanely jealous of their upcoming trip?! I can hardly write this blog post because my mind keeps obsessing about how amazing it would be to have our kids with us in my (currently) favorite place in the world (Florence). But – back to the point at hand. I had a wonderful meeting these two spunky kids and am so excited for their family!

Rocko

When I met Rocko this week it was love at first sight – I walked in the door, he greeted me with a quick sniff, then promptly rolled on his back on top of my feet for a belly rub. It was actually a little painful for me to start shooting because I wanted to sit with him there all day! But he was equally enthusiastic about the camera – as soon as we stepped into his backyard he was all business, selecting toys to tug and throw, play bowing left and right, and striking poses at random.

It was so funny to see a dog so goofy and dignified at the same time, so serene and affectionate in the house and so rambunctious in his backyard. He’s only about a year old and was found abandoned at Brook Run Park (which has one of the best dog parks in Atlanta!). He came to his mom already house trained and well-mannered, and plays well with other dogs and is obviously wonderful with people, which begs the question…how in WORLD does someone abandon a dog like this?!

The expression on Rocko’s face in the image on the right below CRACKS ME UP. What does he know that we don’t?

This is what he did the second he saw the camera come out:

Kelley - I was there the day Rocko was abandoned and hardly recognize him from the scared dog he was then. These pictures are so beautiful and tell a great story that has a super happy ending! I actually teared up a little when I saw these. ๐Ÿ™‚

Laine Sweezey - When this dog was discovered abandoned at our dog park, many of our visitors were distraught. Rocko was abandoned with another dog called Boots (who is still waiting for a family). On behalf of the hundreds of dog lovers at Brook Run Dog Park, THANK YOU for giving this dog a wonderful home!!

Blurg.

Since many of my sessions these past couple weeks have been for Valentine’s Day surprises, I can’t share them on the blog. Which probably works out for the better because I have been battling a mean and relentless sinus infection and there is nothing but ringing and static in my head so I wouldn’t have anything coherent to say anyway. In fact, I feel a little like Cole:

(Don’t worry, Cole is actually a very sweet — not to mention gorgeous! — kitty I met last year during a session for his big brother.)
