I was archiving 2010 files and realized that I never shared this image of Titus, Hera and Apollo. Their mom ordered a beautiful coffee table book with the session images and this one was used for the last page, along with this perfect quote.
Last Thursday I spent the morning photographing the adoptable dogs at Dekalb County Animal Services. If you know of anyone looking to add another family member, please please PLEASE tell them about these sweet dogs desperately awaiting homes in our Atlanta-area shelters, which are overflowing with homeless dogs and cats.
For those unsure about rescuing, please know that there are so many wonderful and perfectly adoptable babies in these shelters. They are not there because there’s something wrong with them – shelter dogs aren’t “broken.” (A perfect example is our Ellie – she was pulled from animal control and we had her certified as a therapy dog, visiting retirement homes, libraries, and schools, within months of her adoption!)
So please – please consider rescue and share these faces with everyone you know. Help them find the homes they deserve.
Contact Jamie at Jsmartinez [at] dekalbcountyga [dot] gov for details about any of the pups you see below.
Such sweet pictures…I wish I could take each one of them home!

Thank you for taking the time to help these sweet dogs and puppies! I just tweeted: Cute adoptable #dogs in Decatur GA – #photos by Dog Photographer Leesia TehI photographed Paddy with his brother Farley nearly four years ago – I can hardly believe it was so long ago since I last saw him – I wasn’t even blogging then so you haven’t met him yet. Farley is no longer with us, but Paddy now has Belle, who dotes on him like I’ve never seen a younger sister dote on a big brother! Paddy and his mom walked me into their home where Belle was waiting, and she was so excited to see him after the 10 minutes he’d been gone she literally didn’t even notice me. She does an adorable little dance and wiggle for him whenever he walks in the door.
Paddy is 12 years old now, believe or not, and Belle is 7 and only 25 pounds, rescued from one of those horrifying puppy mill situations where it took her months to learn what grass was. She is still wary of new things and when we started the session in their complex’s tennis court, where they play and chase, she didn’t know what to make of the camera. But things were totally different once we were in her home – she was a complete and TOTAL ham. At one point, when we realized we had a bazillion images of her and none of Paddy, we turned to focus on Paddy and she literally jumped over the back of the couch and shoved him out of the way, then proceeded to pose expectantly!
Belle is on the left, Paddy on the right:
One of Paddy’s favorite pastimes is rubbing his face on the tennis court nets:
The tennis court shots are awesome. The spirit you captured in this pup is wonderful.
well, i wrote way more than “GORGEOUS” but for some reason, it didn’t appear in my comment. boo… 🙁
these are all wonderful, Leesia.
Belle reminds me of my Merrick – blossoming from a puppymill darkness. i LOVE the tennis court shots … no, i love them ALL!

They are adorable. Love the tennis court shots!
Paddy and Belle are so cute! Leesia did a great job in capturing their personalities. A big thanks to Wheatens in Need (WIN)and Susan Barton for allowing Belle to become Paddy’s little ‘sis!
Leesia, what great pictures! I’m lucky enough to know Kelly, Paddy, and Belle (and sweet little Farley) and you’ve managed to capture them perfectly! Great job!
Wheatens are the best dogs ever; so it is quite fitting that the best photographer ever took these pictures! Leesia these are GORGEOUS!!!
