Scout & Riggins

All the terriers I’ve met are full of spunk and personality, and Scout and Riggins were no exception! Scout is an eight-year-old golden scruffy mix who was rescued from the Atlanta Humane Society, and her little brother Riggins is a two-year-old white scruffy mix (maybe JRT?) from Orphan Annie Rescue. They are two peas in a pod – they LOVE chasing tennis balls and running around at the park.

Scout is always glued to her mom’s side, leash or no leash, and will play ball as long as you will let her. Riggins is more adventurous and easily distracted, so he hasn’t figured out the returning part of the fetch game, but it is equally entertaining to watch as he zigs and zags all over the field. Scout loves the creek, and for our session Riggins was allowed to go in for the first time and he loved it too!

Thank you, Mary Beth, for such a fun session!

Scooter

Scooter is a three-year-old Wheaten Terrier mix adopted from Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption earlier this year. He was extremely timid when he first came home (he would even urinate out of fear when strangers tried to approach him), but his wonderful family took the time and patience to work with him, and he has emerged from his shell a perfect gentleman! He’s ridiculously laid back and can go to work with his dad where he lies quietly under the desk. At home he’s still very calm and pretty much never barks, but has a playful streak and a complete repertoire of tricks he does for treats.

For his session he came right up to me (a testament to all the work his new family has done!), then proceeded to pose like he was in a furniture commercial in every room of his beautiful home. He loves to nap under chairs and the coffee table, and likes to sprawl out on the bed for a belly rub or a good chew with his favorite toy. It’s unfathomable to think someone could discard a dog like this (or any dog, really), and he is such a poster boy for all the amazing dogs out there in rescues!

Buddy & Cali

This was my third session with Buddy, but my first with his new sister Cali! Cali is about three years old and was found in a dumpster with her 15 puppies earlier this year – on World Spay Day, of all days. :/ Luckily, Atlanta Lab Rescue saved her and although she was frightened and skittish when she first arrived at her new home in March, she’s since blossomed into a very affectionate and sweet girl. She loves to be the center of attention and is incredibly smart.

As you can imagine, Buddy is an old pro when it comes to photo sessions now and even though he’s ten years old now, he still thinks he’s a puppy and will play ball for as long as you will let him. He’s a goofy, lovable boy, always rolling around in the wet grass and leaning against you when he wants some love. He loves his regular visits to the nursing home, where the residents adore him. Buddy is a perfect testament to what a joy it can be to adopt a senior dog (he was adopted two years ago at eight)!

Now – on to the photos:

See what I mean about goofy? 🙂

I love how Cali’s tail looks like a question mark!

I can never resist taking those photos at the very end of a session, when they’re all tuckered out…
