Rose, Fergus & Wales

As soon as I found out Rose and Fergus were Corgi mixes, I knew it was going to be a fantastic session! (I have always found Corgis adorable, but since we added a Corgi mix to our own pack last year, now I’m definitely a sucker!) It was so fun to see some of Ellie’s quirks in Rose and Fergus – even the distinctive thump of their tail when you’re talking to them has a unique Corgi-ness.

Rose and Fergus were rescued together and their dad’s best guess is that Rose is Fergus’s mom since she seems a little older, but they were found together and there’s definitely some kind of family relationship there. Rose is about 11, Fergus is maybe 10, and their big brother Wales is a gorgeous 12-year-old cat with huge blue eyes who was a neighborhood stray, and chose to give David the privilege of feeding and housing him.

Rose is on the left, Fergus on the right:

I love how expressive Rose’s ears are! They have about a zillion different positions.

And of course you know how much I adore turned-out paws…

Wales is very outgoing with new people and will actually bat your hand and nibble on you when you stop petting him. Funnily enough, it’s usually the “new people” issue I have to work through when photographing cats, but instead it was the click of the shutter that gave Wales serious cause for concern.

Eventually, though, he did warm up to this crazy idea of being a model!

Fergus loves to burrow in David’s bed until all the pillows and blankets are just-so:

Newton

Meet Newton – Einstein‘s new 12-week-old brother! He is a Cavalier King Charles spaniel just like his big brother, and every bit as sweet. It’s funny to see these two personalities side-by-side; Einstein is incredibly laid-back and loves cuddling, while Newton is go-go-go all the time and while he is definitely attached to his mom, he’s not the belly-rub kind of guy. He’s an intrepid little explorer with no fear! Each new person, dog, and even pieces of furniture are just new curiosities to win over.

Thanks, Jessica, for another fabulous session. Your boys are beyond adorable and I can’t wait to watch Newton grow up. ๐Ÿ™‚

I hope everyone has a great holiday weekend!

Andi Marus - Einstein and Newton are such handsome puppies! Is their breeder local? I have a cousin looking for a Cavalier breeder in the Atlanta area.

In Memory

In my line of work, I do get these notes from time to time but in these last two weeks there has just been so much sad news. Sophie, Bandit and Chewie are beautiful dogs I had the honor to meet and photograph in the last few years and each passed away from cancer this month. Please keep their families in your thoughts. Bandit, Sophie, and Bailey (her memorial was on the blog a few weeks ago as well) have Rainbow Bridge memorials with Atlanta Pet Rescue & Adoption if you’d like to leave a flower in their memory.

I shared this quote a couple years ago, but of anything I’ve ever read I think it brings the most comfort:

“It came to me that every time I lose a dog, they take a piece of my heart with them. And every new dog who comes into my life gifts me with a piece of their heart. If I live long enough, all the components of my heart will be dog, and I will become as generous and loving as they are.” (Cheryl Zuccaro)

Rest in peace, dear ones. You are sorely missed.

Anna Conley - My name is Anna. I rescued a puppy from abuse 19 years ago. He became my life, family, friend, protecter, etc. we have been through everything life threw at us. Still unseperatable, till the 8th of this month. He got snake bit and died. My life will never be the same. I have protected him over an adult anyday. To me, a person can protect themselves where a pet caint. And when a person tried to hurt an animal, I would stop them the best I could. Now that mine is forever gone, myheart will always have that deep emptiness that may never be filled again.Only by the grace of God will I ever fill that empty whole in my life.I will forever remember my Jose’ Poco Conley, may he foever rest in peace and I know he finaaly has his wings In heaven. He well earned them. I love you baby.
