Nelson, Cricket & Rusty

Last week I had the honor of photographing the Red Bandanna crew: these gorgeous rescues belong to the owner of the pet food stores all around Atlanta and the metro area that provide high-quality pet foods, chews, treats, shampoos and toys. Nelson is a 10-year-old coonhound/rottweiler/chow/take-your-best-guess mix, and Cricket is a 10-year-old sheltie mix. Rusty is the is the baby of the family, a 3-year-old Bloodhound rescue.

Of course Cricket is the boss and loves ordering the boys around even though they’re both bigger than she is. They are a great pack, affectionate and sweet. I had a great time getting to know each of them. (You might recognize Rusty from the Red Bandanna calendar, which is in stores now, or available for purchase here – all proceeds go to the Red Bandanna Angel Fund and Friends of Dekalb Animals!)

For the holidays, their mom had lovely bows for them to wear, and Cricket and Nelson happily smiled into the camera for us:

Rusty, however, had something else in mind!

He definitely has the widest range of facial expressions:

While Cricket has masted the “Diva in Profile” pose:

I love the wrinkles!!!

Lonnie & Sam

Lonnie and Sam never cease to amaze – this miniature schnauzer are a brother and sister pair I’ve photographed twice before, so of course we worry that the photos might start to look the same…but not with these models, who should probably look into a professional career! They struck the cutest poses and I think toward the end of the session I exclaimed “okay, seriously?!” because I just couldn’t believe how they were working the camera.

Aren’t they just the cutest pair?!

In the car on the way back from the park, I turned around and saw Sam in his official “car ride position”:

Lonnie and Sam are both agility champions as well:

Deborah Pogorzelski-Stogner - Leesia, Awesome pictures! As the breeder of these pups it’s hard to express how truly impressed I am with both their accomplishments and the amazing talent you have for capturing so many “perfect” moments. I love and admire Mrs. Pointer for her dedication, commitment and her constant love and patience in raising and training this amazing pair.

Abby, Cricket & Hootie

Abby is a five-year-old cocker spaniel who is currently rooming with Cricket and Hootie, two adorable senior rescue mixes. Their favorite outing of the day is walking through the woods in their neighborhood, a wonderfully well-kept secret of winding trails and endless smells. Their off-leash skills are quite impressive, and we had a great time playing in the leaves. Cricket, the tri-color chihuahua mix, is actually blind, but you can hardly tell. It always amazes me how quickly and efficiently dogs can adapt!

And now, without further ado – meet (from left to right) Cricket, Hootie and Abby:
