Azure

Azure’s mom has always loved wolves and the way they look in natural wildlife photographs, so we wanted to create a similar look with an outdoor winter session. Azure was thrilled with this idea, as temperatures in the teens were a special treat for her. She is a gorgeous Siberian Husky, and true to her heritage, she loves to roam and is always on the move. But even though she’s always exploring, she also never loses track of where her mom is. It was so sweet to watch her check over her shoulder to confirm that her people with her still with her, and when she got a little too far for comfort she would come trotting back with a grin on her face.

She looks amazing at 15 – we all hope to age this gracefully! – and it was fun to see her so content in the chilly weather, taking down notes of every critter that had crossed along the paths. Isn’t she a beauty?

Azure was especially curious about my camera!

Chocolate Chip

How fitting that the first blog post of the new year features Chocolate Chip, a brand-new 11-week-old puppy! He’s a chocolate toy Schnauzer who’s hit the jackpot with his mom, the owner and veterinarian of Trusted Friend Animal Clinic in Sandy Springs. He joins a family of cats, so he’s having a bit of an identity crisis as he loves to play on cat scratchers and chase ribbons. (But he does sit automatically when he wants treats, so he’s definitely a dog. Ha!) Needless to say, he’s ridiculously adorable. I won’t even attempt to describe his cuteness in words.

So without further ado – here is a preview from Chip’s session! I hope everyone had a wonderful holiday – here’s to a fantastic 2014!

Vesper

Vesper is all grown up! I first met her when she was eight weeks old, then photographed her gangly teenage years when she was six months old. For her final Puppy Package session we thought it would be fun to incorporate her family’s beautiful Christmas tree, so we had a December session at 17 months old. Although she’s much bigger than she was as a puppy, she’s a little Weimaraner, only about 50 pounds! And she is a beauty. Full of energy and spunk, she loves to play and always has to be near her people.

She can throw her toys to herself and has a ridiculous vertical leap, so you can imagine how endlessly entertaining her presence is! I feel like I only spent half her session shooting – the other half I spent just laughing while I watched her play – zooming over chairs and army-crawling under beds…

Janet Prechter Golden - You have a fine talent. If Meredith had human babies, you’d be a millionaire. If you’re ever in Asheville, NC I’d love to have you take some great photos of my new baby, my new home in the mountains.
